If you love making printable books with your students, these Thanksgiving printable books are perfect for your November plans. Of course, you don’t have to use them only during November! Many of the printables can be spread out throughout the school year.

How to Prep the Thanksgiving Emergent Readers

First, let’s chat about prepping the mini books! You’ll need a few materials before you get started (I may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post):

That’s really all you’ll need to prep the Thanksgiving printable books. And you might not even need the scissors for some of them! While you’re gathering supplies, pick up anything extra you’d like to use with the readers. Some possibilities:

And then it’s time to assemble the books. Since there are ten different books, from a variety of people, each book assembly will be a little different. Here’s the general run-down of what to do:

  • First, go to the individual book posts and get the free printables.
  • Then download the files to your computer.
  • Next, open the files in the most up-to-date version of Adobe Reader.
  • Print the books you want to use.

After that, some books will have you print, fold, and staple. Others will have you print, cut, and staple. Either way, the specific directions will be included with each of the individual readers.

One you have the mini books ready to go, it’s time to introduce them to your students! The children get to be illustrators and writers as they make their own Thanksgiving easy readers.

  • ABCs of Literacy’s turkey cut and paste book combines turkeys and community helpers! Your students practice scissor and gluing skills, too.
