Have you seen these precious truck themed Easter eggs at the Dollar Tree lately? I found them recently and had to grab 4 packs. Then, I had to think of a truck egg great learning activity to utilize them, especially since we are learning about -ck soon!

These truck eggs were found at The Dollar Tree. Check out how we can use them for a learning activity in the classroom.

Grab Truck Easter Eggs

These truck themed Easter eggs come in a pack of 6, one of each of these colors. This style egg was unique style and opens in a super fun way, splitting the truck in half vertically. We are learning about the final -ck words next week, making this truck egg perfect.

Use these truck eggs to make onset and rime learning activity.

Give the Trucks Some Tags

First, since the trucks were trucks, I added some simple rectangular Avery Labels to the front and back of each truck, just like a real truck. Then, on the front of each struck, I took a -ck word and broke it into the onset and rime. Students can practice putting these sounds together or breaking them apart when they open and close the truck egg.

I place an answer sticker inside the truck egg for self checking.

Chunk and Check The Truck Egg Word

Inside each truck egg, I placed an Avery circle sticker with the correct answer inside it to help self check. You can skip this step if you want to, or you could add two stickers for them to choose between both images.

Add some car tags to these trucks to make it a learning activity for the classroom.

Now, on the back of each truck, I added a small sticker with a number on it. This creates the perfect numbered activity for a response sheet for this truck egg learning activity.

Response Sheet for Truck Eggs

To play students grab a truck and check the number on the back. They sound on the word on the front of the egg. Next, they check their word inside the egg. Finally, They color that word on the response sheet to match which truck they are using.

I love the idea of coloring the correct answer with the same color truck. I plant to make each pink truck the same word, but you could easily mix and match. Also keep in mind that you can use this same idea but use traditional Easter eggs if you can’t find truck eggs as well. I have response sheets for truck eggs and traditional eggs.
