TURKEY GOES TO SCHOOL BOOK ACTIVITIES
Our favorite Turkey is back, and this time he goes to school! Turkey Goes to School is a fun back to school read aloud book by Wendi Silvano. Your students in Kindergarten and First Grade will love it! Here are some literacy companion activities that go with the story:
The first day of school was approaching, and Max and Millie were SO excited! So were Farmer Jake's farm animals, because the school's first week theme was Farm Days.
The animals thought for sure that they would be invited to attend. They were SO excited for school, too! Stories, counting, singing, painting...it sounded so fun!
The farm animals spent time each day practicing their skills so that they were ready for school. They wrote their names, read books, and had even had recess.
But when the first day of school came, they were informed that they were not allowed to ride the bus...or attend school at all! They had to stay at the farm. They were SO disappointed.
The determined animals made their way to the school, then decided that Turkey would try to disguise himself so he could get into the school.
Of course Turkey's disguise does not work. He tries to be a backpack, a book, a soccer ball...even a lunch lady! None of his disguises worked.
Finally Turkey and his farm animal friends made their way into the school as "Farmer Jake" and his animals. This was PERFECT for farm week!
The students in the classroom LOVED it, and the teacher finally allowed the special guests to stay for the rest of the day.
